<p>Joichi Ito cree que los contenidos digitalizados serán tan baratos que los usuarios siempre necesitarán algo más exclusivo.</p>
<p> En el futuro, Internet tampoco reemplazará a medios clásicos como los libros y los CDs, opinan los expertos. "Los datos digitales serán tan baratos, que los fans desearán algo más exclusivo, más auténtico", aseguró el inversor en Internet y blogger Joichi Ito.</p>
<p>El estadounidense de origen japonés es presidente de la comisión directiva de Creative Commons, un sistema alternativo de licencias para propiedad intelectual que se diferencia del Copyright que se aplica hasta ahora.</p>
<p>Ito contribuyó a crear numerosas empresas en Internet como Infoseek Japón y Flickr y es considerado uno de los expertos más influyentes en el mundo virtual.</p>
<p>Estos días dirigió un simposio en el festival Ars Electronica de la ciudad austriaca de Linz sobre el tema "Una nueva economía cultural - Cuando la propiedad se topa con sus límites".</p>
<p>Mientras en opinión de Ito los libros de bolsillo y los CDs baratos lo tendrán difícil en el futuro para competir con las descargas en la red, la demanda de medios de mayor calidad crecerá.</p>
<p>"En la era digital, el mundo físico es cada vez más importante. La gente quiere tener algo en la mano", afirmó. Como ejemplo, el experto mencionó a la banda de rock Nine Inch Nails, que ofreció su nuevo álbum para descargar gratuitamente en Internet y sin embargo batió récords de facturación con una edición limitada de una caja de CDs y un DVD sobre su gira.</p>
<p><STRONG>Creative Commons</STRONG></p>
<p>Con su licencia gratuita Creative Commons, Ito intenta ofrecer una alternativa al derecho de autor rígido y caro. De esta manera, las personas también pueden poner a disposición su propiedad intelectual sin costo alguno, pero regular cómo es utilizada. "Seguirá habiendo un mercado para propiedad intelectual, pero las empresas deberán ser algo más creativas con sus ideas de negocio", agregó.</p>
<p>En general, Ito contradice la opinión generalizada de que Internet supone una amenaza para la seguridad general. "Tiene un potencial creativo increíble", aseguró. Nunca antes tantas personas tuvieron la posibilidad de exponer y publicar sus ideas con medios tan sencillos y baratos.</p>
<p>"Cuando algo aparece en Internet, puede ser traducido increíblemente rápido a muchas lenguas y difundido en todo el mundo". A las minorías reprimidas y las víctimas de dictaduras, Internet les permite tener una voz que puede ser oída internacionalmente, añadió.</p>
<p>A pesar de los debates en torno a la difusión de pornografía infantil y terrorismo en la red, Ito está en contra de cualquier tipo de censura estatal o control de datos. "Internet debe permanecer en las manos de los ciudadanos. De lo contrario, será destruido".</p>
<p>El experto cree en un modelo biológico, según el cual los usuarios mismos combaten a sus enemigos: como en un bebé, cuyo sistema inmunológico combate virus y bacterias, para ser cada vez más resistente.</p>
<p>Ito está convencido de que Internet, que aún es relativamente joven, logrará regularse y mejorar con el tiempo: "Por ahora, es un adolescente y acaba de contagiarse de varicela".</p>
